Older Adult Programs

Physical Therapy for SeniorsAging is a normal process. Yet age-related physiological changes can be misunderstood and often unnecessarily limit an older adult’s daily activities. At CPW, we have years of experience with the issues, needs and concerns of older adults. More than half of our patients and clients are 65 years or older. Physical therapy rehabilitation and kinesiotherapy has proven invaluable in helping prevent lifelong disability and improving function in older adults. Our therapists work with our older patients and clients to understand the anatomical and physiological changes that occur with normal aging.

The use of aquatic therapy in physical rehabilitation has been proven highly effective — especially for older adults. Aquatic therapy reduces pain and hastens the healing process. We’re well known for our aquatic therapy. Our pool is heated to 92° – 96° and equipped with both ramp and hydraulic chair lift. Our facility is handicapped-accessible with convenient, well-lit parking and easy access to both clinic and pool areas.

At CPW we work closely with organizations like The Arthritis Foundation and The Area Office on Aging. We have programs and services specifically designed for older adults ranging from balance training to help avoid falls, Arthritis Aquatics, the more advanced Arthritis Aquatics Plus class, and Body Better H20 to our Pelvic Health Program, which uses biofeedback techniques to treat incontinence.

At CPW we treat many health conditions common to older adults with physical rehabilitation and aquatic therapy, including:

  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Urinary and Fecal Incontinence
  • Coordination and Balance Disorders
  • Joint Replacements
  • Hip Fractures
  • Chronic Back Pain
